Wedding budget calculator: split your budget by category
Enter what you want to spend and how many guests you’re expecting: the calculator breaks your wedding budget down by category and shows what each one gets and what every guest costs.
The figures are just an example: put in your own. For each category you can type the percentage or the amount itself (if you already have a quote, say from the caterer); an amount you type stays fixed when you change the total.

How to split a wedding budget
The default percentages come from our guide How to Break Down Your Wedding Budget by Category: a starting point that works for most weddings, not a rule. Start from the real number — what you can and want to spend — and fit the categories to it, never the other way round.
If the band matters less to you than the food, moving points from one to the other is exactly right. The calculator warns you when the categories stop adding up to 100%, so you can’t fool yourselves by accident.
- Venue & catering (45–50%): by far the biggest slice, and it scales with your guest count.
- Photography & video (10–12%): the one thing you keep forever — book it early.
- Music, flowers and décor (8–10% each): what gives the party its atmosphere.
- Attire, beauty and rings (8–10%), invitations (2–3%) and transport and extras (5%).
- Contingency (5–10%): the most forgotten line, and the one that saves the day.
The number that changes everything: cost per guest
Almost half the budget goes on the reception, and the reception is priced per head. That’s why the calculator divides every category by your guest count: if the per-guest figure gets out of hand, the most effective lever isn’t trimming the flowers, it’s revisiting the guest list.
Try changing the number of guests and watch everything move. It’s the quickest way to decide together whether you’d rather have a bigger wedding or more to spend per person.
Where to save without anyone noticing
Spend on what you’ll remember or look at forever — the food, the photos, whatever matters most to you — and save on what’s enjoyed for a moment. Stationery is the classic example: a digital wedding invitation with online RSVP replaces the printer and saves you chasing replies. With Enlázate it’s free to build and €49 one-time to publish; the seating plan is free.
How to use the calculator
Enter your total
Savings, family contributions and what you’ll put aside before the day. That number is the boss.
Add your guest count
An estimate is fine; refine it once the list is final.
Adjust the categories
Raise what matters to you, lower the rest until you’re back at 100%. If a supplier has already quoted you, type that amount into its category.
Keep the breakdown
Copy it as text or download the CSV to track it in your spreadsheet.
Frequently asked questions
What percentage of a wedding budget goes on the venue and food?
As a guide, 45 to 50% for venue and catering combined. It’s the line that depends most on your guest count, so settle it first.
How much should we keep aside for unexpected costs?
Between 5 and 10% of the total. Something always comes up: a catering extra, an alteration, tips. If you don’t spend it, it goes towards the honeymoon.
Is anything I type into the calculator saved?
No. Everything is calculated in your browser and nothing is sent to a server. To keep it, copy it as text or download the CSV.
Will the CSV open in Excel and Google Sheets?
Yes. It’s UTF-8, comma-separated, with plain numbers, so it opens in Excel, Google Sheets and Numbers.
How much does an Enlázate wedding invitation cost?
Building and previewing it is free with no time limit. To publish it and collect RSVPs you make a single €49 payment per wedding, VAT included.
