Digital save the date

Digital save the dates, sent by email for free

You don’t need a finished invitation to claim the date in your guests’ calendars. Enlázate sends your save the date by email straight from your guest list, styled like your wedding and with a calendar file attached.

Free until you publish · no card · €49 one-time per wedding

What your save the date includes

Five layouts

Classic, Photo, Polaroid, Calendar and Minimal, always in the colour palette of your invitation design.

Optional photo

One picture in the email (JPEG, PNG or WebP, up to 4 MB). Without one, the email still looks complete.

Calendar file

Once the date is set, the email attaches an .ics file guests can add to their calendar, and shows the time and a directions link if you have added them.

Preview and test send

See the exact email while you type your note, and send yourself a test before it goes to anyone.

Once per guest

Every guest receives it only once. Add people later and the next send reaches just the newcomers; if someone missed it, you can resend it to that guest alone from the list.

What a save the date is for

A save the date is the early heads-up: “we’re getting married on this day, keep it free”. It doesn’t replace the invitation and asks for no reply; it simply stops guests from booking something else that weekend. It matters most for peak-season dates, bank holiday weekends and weddings abroad, where people need time to request leave, find flights and book somewhere to stay.

Not sure which comes first? Our guide explains save-the-dates vs invitations in detail.

When to send save the dates

All you need in the editor is the wedding date; the venue is optional and appears once you add it. For the rest of the schedule, see when to send wedding invitations.

  • Local wedding: 6 to 9 months before is usually plenty.
  • Peak season, a long weekend or lots of out-of-town guests: 9 to 12 months before.
  • Destination wedding: as soon as your date and venue are confirmed.
  • The full invitation with the RSVP form then follows around 2 to 3 months before the day.

Free, even before your invitation is published

The guest list and the save the date are part of the free plan: no payment and no published invitation required. Import names and emails (our wedding guest list template is a good starting point) and each guest gets the email in the language you assigned them, or in your invitation’s main language. Inviting people from several countries? You can write a separate note per language; see multilingual wedding invitations.

When you’re ready, your digital wedding invitation goes live with the one-time Premium payment, and that’s when online RSVPs start coming in. See pricing.

Pick one of the five layouts, add a photo if you like and write a personal note of up to 400 characters.

  4. Test, then send

Send yourself a test, check it on your phone, then send it to every guest with an email who hasn’t received one yet.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Enlázate save the date really free?

Yes. The guest list and the save-the-date email are included in the free plan, with no card and no need to publish your invitation.

Can I send it before my invitation is ready?

Yes, that’s the whole point. Only the wedding date is required; the rest of your invitation can stay in draft.

What happens if I add guests after the first send?

Each guest receives the save the date only once. When you send again, it only goes to guests with an email who haven’t had it yet.

Can I send it on WhatsApp?

The save the date is an email. WhatsApp is how you share the invitation itself: every guest has a personal link and a WhatsApp share button in your guest list.

Which language do guests receive it in?

In the language you assign to each guest in the list, or your invitation’s main language if none is set. You can write a different personal note for each active language.
